CODA Brothers

I have read CODA Brothers’ blog from time to time. They are vloggers. Their names are Ben and Andy Olson. They are hilarious. They can be a clown at times. They would make you laugh, learn and sign. You should check their site out some time. Their blog is codabrothers.wordpress.com. Their blog title is “Laugh. Learn. Sign.” It is a really cool blog. They would tell jokes, stories, and experiences of their lives. They won three awards in 2007 that fell in three categories: Best Hearing Ally, Most Funny Blog, and Best Storyteller from Deafread.com.

Let me say something a bit about it. Maybe many of you may not know what CODA is. CODA stands for Children of Deaf Adults. So those brothers are hearing but sign fluently. They have deaf parents. I believe they are currently interpreters.

I just found a good vlog about ASL Lesson 1. I thought you would want to check it out here. May it be overwhelming to you, but you will learn to understand eventually.

Enjoy their Video below:

Oh one more thing, when you see them spell “Laurent, SD,” I will tell you about it some time in the near future while I need to collect more information about that town.

Later,

Halloween Humor: The Cabbie and the Nun

Although the Halloween is over, I still want to share this video with you. It is really funny. If you don’t understand this video, just ask me on Wednesday. I will be glad to tell you the story again.

First, let me say something about that lady. Her name is LaRonna Lupp Zupp. She was born hearing, turned to deaf at the age of 17. She lost her hearing to the result of the side effects of ototoxic medications she took to treat the rare, life-threatning illiness called Toxic Shock Syndrome.

LaRonna wrote a storyblog titled Life Before Deaf, 64 chapters long, on her blog telling how she lost her hearing and how she accept into deafhood journey. I have read pretty much, but not all of them, but I plan to finish her storyblog some time. Now she is a vlogger. Vlogger is Video-blogger. She won the DeafRead.com award for Best Overall Blog. Her blog is The Ear of My Heart.

She tells a joke about The Cabbie and the Nun. It is very funny. You can view the video from youtube below. I couldn’t not able to get the video itself visible right here. I will have to do research to figure how I can do that, though you see the youtube videos on the third column sidebar. It only will work outside of the wordpress content (I mean outside of the posting entries). Well, enjoy and let me know if you understood this video.

Update: I finally got the video embed code work within a plugin installed.

Update: Thanks to Jon. I forgot to add the transcript of that video, excerpted from her vlog link:

A cab driver sees a nun waving for a ride at the side of the street. He stops to pick her up. She gets into the cab, and notices that the VERY handsome cab driver won’t stop staring at her.

She asks him why he is staring. He replies: “I have a something on my mind, but I don’t want to offend you.”

She answers, “When you’re as old as I am and have been a nun as long as I have, you get a chance to see and hear just about everything. I’m sure that there’s nothing you could say or ask that I would find offensive. what’s on your mind, my child?”

“Well, I’ve always had a fantasy to have a nun kiss me.”

She responds without surprise or shock, “Well, let’s see what we can do about that: #1, you have to be single and #2, you must be Catholic.”

The cab driver is very excited and says, “Yes, I’m single and Catholic!

“OK” the nun says. “Pull over.”

The nun fulfills his fantasy with a seriously, wet kiss that would make a hooker blush.

But when they get back on the road, the cab driver starts feeling guilty.

“Forgive me,” said the Cabbie, “but I’ve sinned. I must confess; I’m married and I’m Jewish.”

The nun says, “That’s OK. My name is Kevin and I’m going to a Halloween party.”
